New Discoveries

Over the last couple weeks I have been working on making improvements to the church website.  I find it a frustration and a challenge at the same time.  So far I have discovered a way to put online registrations that can be used for any event that is happening at FBC.  We are currently accepting online registrations for Vacation Bible School but we will be setting up an online registration form for Life Groups for the fall.

moving this week

Here we are on the brink of moving the offices.  That is right we are moving all 5 offices out of the church building and into the building that used to house the Stockbridge village offices.  We got the key today, the water will be turned on tomorrow, and the DSL and phones will be on Friday.  So what is the view from my window?  Well I can't see that far across the room since I am sitting in a sea of boxes.  Who knew it would take so many boxes just to pack up my office?  I really didn't think I had that much stuff.

technology

I just spent a few minutes looking over the report that tracks our website activity.  It was amazing to me that a simple church website like ours can reach people on the other side of the world.  We've had visitors from Russia, Hong Kong, Italy, and beyond.  We've reached multiple states and many cities and towns here in Michigan.  Reading that report just reminded me again of the impact that we can have if we give ourselves fully to the work of Christ.  We've been given the opportunity to invest our lives in people so that they can come to know Christ.

The Big Buck Bash

O.K. I'll admit it... I don't like hunting.  It's not that I think it is wrong or immoral.  I just simply don't find any personal enjoyment out of hunting.  Here we are just a few days away from our 3rd annual Big Buck Bash where we will feed lots of hunters.  At the same time we'll be scoring the best buck that day, which means I'll be spending a lot of time around a lot of dead carcasses.  "Why do something if you don't like it?"  Answer... because it's not about me.

Family 911

This Sunday we start a new series called "Family 911."  One of the biggest misconceptions about the Bible is that it is full of healthy and happy families that we need to emulate.  This couldn't be further from the truth.  We are going to spend the next 6 weeks looking at some dysfunctional families in the Bible and learn what not to do if we want to have a healthy family.  I'm excited for this series and I hope you'll come and learn how to make your family healthy first and then happy second.
