The Big Buck Bash
O.K. I'll admit it... I don't like hunting. It's not that I think it is wrong or immoral. I just simply don't find any personal enjoyment out of hunting. Here we are just a few days away from our 3rd annual Big Buck Bash where we will feed lots of hunters. At the same time we'll be scoring the best buck that day, which means I'll be spending a lot of time around a lot of dead carcasses. "Why do something if you don't like it?" Answer... because it's not about me. "What is it about then?" It's about being used by God to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. My interests are way down on the list of importance when it comes to fulfilling the Great Commission.
The reason I share that today is that I don't take lightly the sacrifices that people have made, specifically in this church to better enable us to reach people for Jesus Christ. Like many of you, I grew up on the traditional hymns and worship style. I loved it! Yet, we've asked many of you to put aside your preferences to better enable us to reach the unchurched and de-churched community for Jesus Christ. I want you to know that I'm not asking of you what I'm not also asking of myself. Whether I like hunting or not isn't the issue, the issue is making disciples. The issue isn't whether or not you like the songs we are sining on a Sunday morning. The issue is making disciples.
I'm so grateful for this church. So many have sacrificed so much to better enable us to lead people to Jesus Christ. We are a stronger and more Biblical church because of you putting lost people ahead of your own preferences.
I'm praying that on Sunday we will be present among the hunters. I pray that we'll connect with them and love on them just like Jesus would. Let's keep in mind... It's all about Him!
